    Teaching Experienced Plant People: Who Is in the Room

    The instructor tier opens with the audience: a thirty-year machinist, a new hire, a quality engineer and a supervisor who did not want to come, all with production to run. Why telling people a rule changes little, what the two trust and productivity studies can and cannot say, and how to design for what happens at the machine.

    Designing a Session Backwards From the Behaviour

    Start from what a learner must do on the next shift and work backwards: behaviour statements, activities and evidence that line up, a session that fits the time a plant will actually release people, and the three things that never get cut however short the slot: the data screen, the named approver and the verification step.

  3. Module 03

    Curriculum Accuracy When Standards, Rules and Tools Change

    An instructor who teaches a rule wrongly repeats the error for every learner. Keep law, contract, voluntary standard and certification scheme apart every time; track editions, regulations, customer requirements and tool behaviour in a currency log; and when you find you taught something wrong, correct it and reach the people you taught.

    Why a demonstration in which the tool only succeeds teaches the wrong lesson, and how to script one in which it invents a standard, quotes a withdrawn edition as current, slips a unit conversion and misses a defect, all on fictional data, rehearsed to fail the same way every time, and closed with a debrief that ties each failure to its check.

    Designing Hands-On Labs on Fictional Plants and Data

    How to build fictional prints, routers, work orders, nonconformance records and inspection images good enough to teach with; how to keep real customer prints, export-controlled data, CUI, trade secrets and employee records out of the lab; how to describe public datasets honestly; what a lab may never ask a learner to do; and the debrief.
