1. Read the Introduction and Chapters 4 to 8 first, in order. Those are the four rules and the refusal list, and everything after them assumes them.

3. Switch on every spare you own today and confirm its music library is current - Rule 2. An untested spare is not a spare.
4. Find the manufacturer's rating for every stand you own and check what is on it - Section 6.4.
5. Print Resource 20 (run sheet), Resource 42 (safety walk) and Resource 45 (failure ladder) and carry them on paper at every event.
6. Record hours door to door from your first event - Chapter 28 is guesswork without them.
7. Already working? Start with Chapter 4, then Chapter 5, then Chapter 21.
8. This book states no licensing rule, no electrical or rigging standard, and no law. Those come from licensing bodies, manufacturers, and qualified professionals.
