How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:

1. Read Chapters 5 to 8 first, in order. They are the four rules and every later chapter refers back to them.
2. Then read Chapter 23 before you publish anything, and Chapter 30 before you price anything. Instructions are most of the product, and revenue per supported hour is the only figure that ranks two templates fairly.
3. EDIT your own template, cold, on a PHONE, before publishing. Type a fourteen-letter double-barrelled surname and a nine-word venue name. Delete a decorative element deliberately and see whether you can get it back. Leave one placeholder in and see whether it is obvious. Twenty minutes per suite finds most problems before a customer does.
4. ORDER a small print run of your own file, exported exactly as a customer would, from a shop you did not choose for leniency. Record what they asked for and what they rejected, then look at the result in daylight beside your screen. This is the only instrument that tells you anything about a print file.
5. Set up the document FIRST - finished size chosen from standard sizes, bleed at the amount printers expect, safe area marked - before placing a single element. Retrofitting bleed into finished artwork costs hours per template, and the customers who bought before the fix cannot be fixed at all.
6. Make editable only the text the customer must change: names, date, time, venue and address. Lock backgrounds, frames, decorative rules and illustrations. Every additional editable element is a support category you have chosen to open.
7. Use INSTRUCTIVE placeholders - 'YOUR NAMES HERE' - never plausible ones. A realistic-looking placeholder survives a skim and gets printed; an obvious one is an instruction.
8. Add a spare untouched copy of every page at the end of the file, labelled 'Original - do not edit. Copy this page if you need to start again', and mention it in the instructions. It costs minutes and converts the worst message category into a self-serve fix.

Written to be used rather than skimmed. Every financial figure is left blank on purpose, and anything touching law, tax, insurance or data protection is written as questions for a qualified professional rather than answers.
