How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:
1. Read the Introduction and Chapters 4 to 7 first, in order. Those are the four rules, and everything after them assumes them.
2. If you already do this work, start with Chapter 4, then Chapter 22, then Chapter 21 - the sentence a checker will read, the document your clients are sending unchanged, and the claim you may be making about machinery you cannot see.
3. Ask for month and year for every role, every time, and have the client check it against a record. '2019-2022' for a twenty-month job is the single most common discrepancy in this trade, and the format created it rather than the client. Section 18.1.
4. Ask the four words that would have prevented the book's opening scenario: 'Did you finish it?' - about every education and credential entry, every time.
5. Ask who actually employed them - the brand, an agency, an umbrella company - because verification checks the entity that paid them.
6. Use the bracket for mismatched titles: 'Analyst II (functioning as Senior Analyst)' is true, checkable, and says what the client means. Section 18.2.
7. Never alter a date. Leave the gap and offer the wording options, because a gap is normal and altered dates are what concealment looks like to a checker.
8. Send a client-side checking sheet with a deadline the day after the interview, and do not draft the experience section until it comes back. This is why the project takes two weeks, and saying so before they pay prevents the why-so-long conversation. Section 17.5.
Written to be used rather than skimmed. Every financial figure is left blank on purpose, and anything touching law, tax, insurance or data protection is written as questions for a qualified professional rather than answers.
