How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:
1. Read Chapters 3, 4, 5 and 12 before you take a single paid job. They are consent, language, the work you must decline, and confidentiality — and they are the four things that end businesses in this trade.
2. Write and sign the 'what I will not do' statement in Resource 3 today, while you are calm, so that you are not deciding it in somebody's hallway.
3. Ring your municipality this week and ask: 'if somebody working in people's homes had a concern about an adult, who should they ring?' Write the number on the card in Resource 27 and put it in your bag. Section 27.10.
4. Send the agreement outline in Resource 29 and the family agreement in Resource 34 to a qualified professional for review before you use either. Nothing in this book is legal drafting.
5. Ask an insurer the questions in Resource 1 before you take any work, and ask specifically what is excluded.
6. Learn the consent card in Resource 18 by heart. Say it out loud at the start of every single session, including with clients you have worked with for a year.
7. Read Chapters 19, 20 and 26 before your first project with more than one person in the house.
8. Print the six Resources files and fill them in as you read — forty-three templates and one hundred AI prompts.
Written to be used rather than skimmed. Every financial figure is left blank on purpose, and anything touching law, tax, insurance or data protection is written as questions for a qualified professional rather than answers.
