How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:

1. Read Chapters 5 to 8 first, in order. They are the four rules and every later chapter refers back to them.
2. Then read Chapter 18 before you write a single page of a guide. Two hours on a sales page decides what two months of writing are worth, and it is almost universally written last.
3. Write the sales page and contents list BEFORE drafting, and test them with five people in the buyer's situation. If a stranger cannot find their exact problem in the contents list, the guide is not clear enough to write - stop there.
4. Never ask a tester 'would you buy this'. Everybody says yes, nobody is lying, and the kindness costs two months. Ask what they would expect to get and what is missing.
5. Give every section an outcome written as a verb. If the only outcome is 'understood', it is background rather than a section - move it after the action it supports or cut it.
6. Structure so that somebody who stops at page ten has already had their money's worth, because the median buyer stops early and is content. Put the artefact - the checklist, template or worksheet - in the first ten pages and repeat it at the end for printing.
7. Decide your update policy before the first sale: free updates forever is unbounded; free updates for a stated period is honest and needs a delivery mechanism; new editions sold separately is legitimate if said clearly. Do the arithmetic across the catalogue you intend to have.
8. Set a REVIEW INTERVAL for every title on the day it is published - quarterly for anything naming tools or prices, at least twice yearly for rules and requirements, annually for method - and calculate your stale share every quarter.
