How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:

1. Read the Introduction and Chapters 4 to 8 first, in order. Those are the four rules and the refusal list, and everything after them assumes them.
2. Already baking and selling? Start with Chapter 4, then Chapter 5, then Chapter 12 - a product you may not be permitted to sell, an allergen label you have never actually read, and a kitchen with no records in it.
3. Send the enquiry in Resource 1 to your own local food authority before doing anything else. Everything in this book is downstream of the answer, and it takes time to come back.
4. Photograph every ingredient label, front and back, and build Resource 17. That single habit answers most of Chapters 5 and 6 at once.
5. Write Resource 28, the standing refusal list, before an enquiry arrives. It will not be written after one.
6. Print Resources 39 to 50 and keep them in the kitchen on paper. A record system you cannot fill in with floury hands is one you will not use.
7. Every figure in the book is invented and illustrative. Fill in your own using Resources 19, 30, and 31.
8. The book states no law, cottage food rule, food safety standard, temperature, shelf life, nutritional claim, or price. Every such question goes to your own authority, your food safety training, or a qualified professional.

Written to be used rather than skimmed. Every financial figure is left blank on purpose, and anything touching law, tax, insurance or data protection is written as questions for a qualified professional rather than answers.
