How this one is meant to be worked through, in the author's own words:

1. Read Part One in order. Chapters 5 to 8 are the four rules in full and everything later depends on them.
2. Do the two gates in Chapter 36.1 before accepting any paying client: read your own employment contract, and take Chapter 15 and Resource 18 to a qualified professional where you are. In some places bookkeeping requires registration and practising without it is an offence.
3. Reconcile every account every month and never post an adjustment to make one balance. It is the single most important operational habit in the book.
4. Start the decisions register (Resource 25) before your first client. A row is not complete until the authority — document, written client instruction, or named accountant ruling — is named.
5. Never quote from a description of a set of records. Inspect first, every time, however small the job and however much of a hurry the client is in.
6. Write the document cutoff, the delivery date and the missed-cutoff mechanic into every engagement, and set up continuous document capture at onboarding by testing it with a real receipt rather than describing it.
7. Build the five-record spreadsheet (Chapter 30.1) in month one. Every number in Part Four is a division problem once the records exist, and document completeness cannot be reconstructed later.
8. Every financial figure is blank on purpose. Fill them from your own client-month log; published rates account for none of the variables that decide cost.

Written to be used rather than skimmed. Every financial figure is left blank on purpose, and anything touching law, tax, insurance or data protection is written as questions for a qualified professional rather than answers.
